AUB’s Varsity football team were held to a 1-1 draw in their second league game of the season at the University of Balamand last Thursday night.
Despite missing their first choice strikers, AUB went into the game in the North confident of securing the win, but it was not to be as the home side held out for a point.
The majority of the match was played in Balamand’s half as AUB dominated possession, but it was Balamand that got the first goal, a fortuitous one against the run of play. AUB fought back and when Chris Tamari was fouled in the box, Jad Chaanine tucked away the resulting penalty. AUB continued to create chances but were lacking a clinical finisher to put them ahead.
Rami Musallam put in a Man of the Match performance from midfield, and with experienced heads in Elie Dib, Walid Ibrahim, and Chris Tamari also putting in accomplished performances on the day, AUB will feel hard done by to not come away with all 3 points.
